Arjeebie

Arjeebie was my arcade game project for EECS 494 - Computer Game Design and Development, completed in October 2005. The game is a falling block puzzle game, like Tetris and Lumines. I was experimenting with a color-blending mechanic as the basis for the game play, and it turned out fairly well. I was hoping it would be something as compelling and addictive as Lumines, but I hit a dead end with the mechanic and couldn't think of ways to make it better. Nevertheless, the end result was definitely a worthwhile experiment. Also, I did something interesting with the music. Each track of the song plays according to the colors of the blocks on the screen, so as you play, each instrument part is periodically turning on and off. This is somewhat similar to turning the tracks on in the rhythm game Frequency. It definitely adds some flare to the game's audio, which was created for the game by my friend Evan Conte and his friend Mark Goldin.
