Biography

I started learning programming in January 2007. After a few months of learning, I realized that programming was both something at which I could be proficient and something enjoyable. I have particular interest in network programming and video game programming. My interest in the latter brought me to join Wolverine Soft. I have been a student at the University of Michigan since 2004, and have been seeking a Computer Science degree since 2007. I joined Wolverine Soft in the summer of 2007, and I've tried to attend every meeting ever since. I want to become a better game programmer, both through learning from other members and through teaching other members. I have great ambition to create a fun and deep video game together with the members of Wolverine Soft. Hopefully this will translate into a career in video games, both for myself and for other aspirants in Wolverine Soft.

Skills

C/C++, C#, Java, Ruby, HTML, OpenGL, network programming, multithreaded programming

Side Projects

A networked multiplayer real-time strategy game, written in C++ using OpenGL for graphics. I've been building it by creating prototypes, each exhibiting some subset of all the behavior I have planned for the game, so that I can experiment with the implementation of the game's features with fewer variables to consider. Then I merge the features into the main project until I have a more complete game. At the moment of this edit the feature I am currently testing is scripted 3D animation.

My web site.

A peer-to-peer instant messenger program, the latest version of which is written in Java, that I have been using to teach myself the basics of network programming (with multithreading and a GUI). When all the features I have planned have finally been implemented, I will post the program on my website. I am always interested in giving it more testing, so ask me if you would like to participate.
