Interested in Our Activities?
Find out about how to join WolverineSoft and WolverineSoft Studio.
Joining WolverineSoft
WolverineSoft is a student organization led primarily by undergraduates at the University of Michigan, but we welcome all. Whether you are a grad student, alumni, industry professional, student of another school, or so on, we are interested in your perspective.
Membership in WolverineSoft is completely non-committal. You are welcome to come and go to as many or as little meetings and activities as you are able. Please note that this is separate from WolverineSoft Studio.
To join as a member of WolverineSoft, all it takes is joining our Discord and subscribing to our mailing list, the WolverineSoft Weekly. These are the two places we communicate our meeting and activity times!
Joining WolverineSoft Studio
Applications open at the end of each semester. They are due the end of the 3rd week after classes start. You may find more information about our recruitment process below.
Unlike the WolverineSoft Club, which is open to all persons interested in participating, joining WolverineSoft Studio requires submission of an application.
Unfortunately, due to the amount of resources it takes to manage these large projects, we are not be able to accept everyone who applies. We weigh the following factors most highly in our application decisions:
Enthusiasm (for games, game development, and WolverineSoft)
Ability to commit time (6-12 hours a week is a good baseline, attendance at Sunday Studio-wide meetings and occasional work sessions) Note: Summer studio sessions will be virtual.
Congeniality and responsibility (e.g., if you joined the studio in the past, did you meet your time commitments? Did you communicate regularly with your lead and team?)
Examples of past work (game jam submissions, solo or group projects, completion of EECS494, non-game experience)
Decisions are typically made at the latest by the first 1-2 weeks of the project cycle. We encourage everyone interested to apply sooner rather than later, as we intend to start making acceptance decisions before the final application deadline.
Please also note that you can earn academic credit just by participating, and we highly encourage you to do so (credits not available over the summer). Find out more here.
